Biography


Dr. Poonam Anand is an Assistant Professor in the English Language Education program at Bahrain Teachers College, University of Bahrain.

Her PhD is in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies from Carleton University, Canada.

She has several years of teaching experience in Bahrain and Canada as a teacher trainer as well as an ESL/EAP instructor. Currently, she teaches Assessment Methods in Education, Language Testing, and ESL content and pedagogy courses to pre-service and in-service teacher candidates.

Her research interests lie in Genre-based pedagogies, assessment of English for academic purposes literacies (EAPL), and assessment of Young Language Learners (YLL).

She is keen on questions arising from the social consequences of high stakes examinations, issues of validity and reliability in test use, and assessment frameworks of second languages.
