Dr. Funda Örnek is an Associate Professor in Science Education at Bahrain Teachers College, University of Bahrain. Dr. Funda is also a fellow of the UK Advance Higher Education Academy (FHEA) (2022). She holds a Ph.D. in Science Education from Purdue University, USA (2006); an M.A. in Science Education from the University of Colorado at Denver, USA (2001); and a B.Sc. in Engineering Physics from Istanbul Technical University, Türkiye (1996). Dr. Funda's areas of expertise and research interests include Science Education, Physics Education, STEM (STEAM, STREAM) Education, Teacher Education, AI in Science Education, Mobile technology in Science Education, NOS (Nature of Science), PCK, TOSRA, scientific inquiry, HOS, and modeling in science education.
