PROGRAM LEVEL

The Higher Diploma in School Leadership spans one academic year with two academic semesters, 3 courses in each semester, with a total of 18 credit hours and 270 contact hours. There are no prerequisite courses or programs. The Program will be delivered in Arabic. Courses are offered at the Bahrain Teachers College twice a week full day morning time. Upon successful completion of the program, candidates will receive a Higher Diploma in School Leadership from the University of Bahrain.

GENERAL PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • To graduate School Leaders with high-quality skills, such as reality analysis, studying alternatives, strategic planning, and problem-solving, in order for those school leaders to moderate the level of school performance to the best possible performance within the available resources and capabilities.
  •  For this purpose, the curricula of the program have been developed in line with the needs of MoE senior leaders such as principals, assistant principals and acting seniors, while reflecting BQA requirements in the aspect of developing the performance of local school leaders and keeping up with international updates in the field of educational leadership development.
  • The program also seeks to provide learners with special skills to improve the educational outcomes of school students, in line with the twenty-first century skills, through the professional development of middle-level leaders in schools and developing their skills to enhance the teaching and learning process in schools.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES PEOs

  1. Students will use strategies and evidence-based practices to apply academic standards within their schools, monitor performance, and support the learning of all learners in Bahrain’s schools. (BQA Academic Achievement Aspect)
  2. Students will practice how to increase work ethic, citizenship values, innovation, and personal-social development among staff and learners within their schools. (BQA Personal Development and Social Responsibility Aspect)
  3. Students will apply strategies and evidence-based practices to improve the quality of teaching and learning, as well as the effectiveness of classroom management, technology usage, differentiation, and learner assessment, within classrooms in their schools. PROGRAM INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES PILOs

  1. Develop specialized abilities to perform the role of an aspiring leader in relation to educational management issues.
  2. Apply specialized knowledge and skills to ensure safe, ethical, productive, and effective school operations.
  3. Explore the use of various data in different ways to ensure school level improvement in teacher performance, effective resource management and utilization in times of systemic change.
  4. Develop professional and sustainable relationships among learners, school staff, guardians, and leaders in the Ministry of Education to support school progress.
  5. Analyse in-depth relevant evidence-based practices to improve school performance, stakeholder satisfaction, and learner academic achievement within school contexts.

GENERAL INFORMATION OF THE PROGRAM

  • The duration of the program is one academic year, over two semesters.
  • Students study 3 courses each semester, with a total of 6 courses.
  • Each course is 3 credit hours, with a total of 18 credit hours for the program.
  • Courses are taught in the Arabic language.
  • The program is offered in the evening period as instructed by MoE.
  • The duration of studying in each course is a full semester which is approximately 16 weeks according to the UoB calendar.
  • Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded a Higher Diploma in School Leadership from the UoB.
  • To graduate from the program, students must successfully pass all courses with a CGPA that is not less than 2.5.
