PROGRAM LEVEL

The program is designed to equip teachers who lack teaching or educational certificates with the pedagogical knowledge and skills necessary for effective classroom instruction. It aims to provide a comprehensive curriculum that covers educational theories, teaching methodologies, classroom management, and assessment techniques. Through the program, teachers develop practical skills in lesson planning, instructional delivery, and differentiated instruction, while fostering reflective teaching practices. The PGDE program enables teachers to enhance their teaching abilities, positively impact student learning, and engage in continuous professional development.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES PEOs

  1. Apply personal and professional knowledge, skills, and values required for appointment as teachers with the Ministry of Education, Kingdom of Bahrain, or for employment in a variety of non-educational settings.
  2. Exhibit competence in lesson planning, teaching methodologies, and evaluation techniques, while embodying personal and professional qualities essential for effective teaching.
  3. Possess an understanding of the challenges of diversity within the student population and the ability to address the varying learning needs of both groups of learners and individual students.
  4. Apply Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills effectively in the learning and teaching.
  5. Actively engage as valuable members of the school community, making meaningful contributions to the enhancement of their schools and the broader community.

  1. Apply knowledge of central concepts, tools of inquiry, aspects of subject matter, and structures of the discipline while making rich learning experiences accessible.

  3. Develop inclusive learning practices that promote equity through realizing diversity and supporting pupils with special educational needs.

GENERAL INFORMATION OF THE PROGRAM

  • Duration & Language: The program duration is one academic year, consisting of two semesters. The medium of instruction is Arabic or English, depending on the specialization.
  • Course Load: Students take 4 courses per semester, for a total of 8 courses in the program.
  • Credit Hours: Each course carries 3 credit hours, totaling 24 credit hours for the entire program.
  • Timing: Classes are conducted in the evening.
  • Course Duration: Each course spans a full academic semester (approximately 15 weeks), in accordance with the University of Bahrain’s academic calendar.
  • Certification: Students are awarded a post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Bahrain.
  • Graduation Requirements: To graduate, students must successfully complete all courses and attain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5.
