BAHRAIN TEACHERS COLLEGE

DEAN’S MESSAGE

Dr. Lucy Bailey

DEAN, BAHRAIN TEACHERS COLLEGE

Welcome to Bahrain Teachers College. Our purpose is to nurture and develop outstanding educators for Bahraini schools.

Founded in 2008, Bahrain Teachers College (BTC) is central to the economic vision of the country. Drawing on international best practice and research-based instructional strategies, we offer training to new and experienced educators. By nurturing teachers who can develop their students’ employability skills and hold the Sustainable Development Goals at the centre of their practice, we are proud to contribute to the economic transformation of the Kingdom. BTC graduates are held in high esteem in schools across Bahrain.

We are dedicated to serving the needs of the education system in Bahrain through our partnership with the Ministry of Education. Close collaboration between the Ministry and BTC informs every aspect of our work. From our Leadership Centre, which supports school leaders, to our research and programme development, at every step we consult with our Ministry colleagues. This keeps BTC’s work focused on solving real world problems faced by teachers.

Our expanding suite of programmes includes initial preparation programmes – the undergraduate Bachelor of Education and the Post-Graduate Diploma in Education. In addition, we offer Continuing Professional Development courses so that practising teachers can continue to enhance and update their skills. We provide leadership training through our Teacher Leadership Programme and School Leadership Programme. A range of specialist programmes, such as our Special Education Programme, offers high-level skill development for specific aspects of education. Through our partnership with Boston University, we provide access to international Masters study on tailored Bahraini cohorts delivered by top-ranked academics.

Our faculty hold qualifications from the world’s leading teacher training universities and have experience of teaching in Bahraini schools. As a result, we offer students a stimulating environment, in which they can discuss global best practices and adapt them to the Bahraini context.

Bahrain Teachers College is an outstanding institution in which to work and study.

NEWS

“I have learned that every student has their own individuality and characteristics, and to be a successful teacher, you should be able to recognize the differences. All fingers are not equal, be an educator before you are a teacher.

My message to the specialized teachers: Students are like dough, you are the ones who shape them, so be an inspiring teacher and create the future.”

Juwayriyah Yusef Ahmed Al-Shomali, Bahrain Teachers College, Specialist Teacher
